SIGNAL

A nine-minute short about an astronaut who stops transmitting — shot over four nights in and around Toronto.

The brief

Make a festival-ready short with a crew of nine, a four-night schedule and no studio backlot. The story needed to feel interplanetary while staying entirely inside Ontario.

How we made it

We scouted overgrown greenhouse locations, built a practical suit rig that could survive rain, and shot anamorphic at night so the foliage read as alien canopy. Everything was lit with battery-powered units so we could move fast between setups.

The result

Signal was selected for three regional festivals and became the calling card that brought two national brands to the studio in the same quarter.
